My Overall Strategy
March 17, 2007
So I figure we might as well go ahead and get right to the meat and potatoes of this deal. Hey, does WordPress have spell check? I hope so, cause I can’t spell very well. In the past I’ve designed and built several really cool on-line commerce websites that did all kinds of cool, whiz-bang stuff. But I hardly ever sold a darn thing. You know what I learned from that? I think the product is almost not nearly as important as the marketing. You can have a fabulous website, great graphics and a product that cures cancer, but if no one knows it’s there, or knows how to find it, it won’t be worth squat. With that in mind, I’ve decided to learn everything I possibly can about marketing and advertising. Specifically internet marketing and direct response marketing. I just finished a good book called No B.S. Direct Marketing: The Ultimate, No Holds Barred, Kick Butt, Take No Prisoners Direct Marketing for Non-direct Marketing Businesses (No B.S.) and I really enjoyed it. It’s from Dan Kennedy, who I really don’t know anything about, but I enjoyed the book.
It’s not really specifically geared toward Internet marketing, but there’s good general information about getting in the right mind-set for direct response marketing.
I think there are a LOT of people out there who have good ideas for marketing and advertising efforts, but never do anything about it because they’re afraid of what people will say or something, because they think their ideas are too crazy or different or something.
Anyway, I would recommend that book if you’re starting on a path to making money on the internet!
