Sunrocket Charges My Card?

Date August 11, 2007

Sunrocket went out of business recently.  You can read about it here.

About a year ago, we signed up and we went with the annual plan.  I think it was about $200 for 12 months.  We figured that we would try it out, and it service and reliability were good, we would cancel our Bellsouth services.

Well service was not good at all.  In fact it was totally unusable.  We put the router in front of the “gizmo” as Sunrocket called it.  We tried putting the router behind the gizmo.  Nothing worked.

Sunrocket tried to help a couple times, but we couldn’t get anything working.  We kind of forgot about it, and we were planning to move, so we thought we would try it at the new house.

Our DSL is MUCH faster at the new house.  The Speed Test reports that we have about 6.2MB downstream and I can’t remember what out upload was, but it was a lot.  Still nothing seemed to work.

By this time, we started getting email, voicemail, and maybe even some postal mail announcing that Sunrocket was going out of business.  Not surprising if others had a similar experience as what I had.

My wife checked her account balance, and there’s a charge from Sunrocket for like $208.22  You’ve got to be kidding me?  For what?  I’m sure that this charge was placed after the annoucement they were going out of business.

A phone call to the credit card company and I’m sure it’ll all be taken care of.  The lady at the credit card company said they’ve been getting LOTS of calls since Sunrocket made the announcement.

Have you been charged by Sunrocket?
