Check out this video below, where the hand starts about 5:00 and around 7:15 Phil has a catastrophic brain failure and fouls up his winning flush.

Is Madonna Dead? Too Thin?

Has the advertising world gone completely mad? I checked Google Trends this morning to see what’s the hot buzz today, and what do I see, but “Madonna Dead” making it’s way up the chart. Whoa, I grew up listening to Madonna, sometimes not by choice as she ruled the airwaves at one point, but then, there it is, this way over the top photo shopped picture of a supposed corpse that is none other than Madonna.
From what I can tell, this is supposed to be some sort of advertisement for the Louis Vuitton. Seriously? A dead Madonna laying in a casket clutching her purse is an advertisement? According to American Idol’s Simon Cowell, it’s only Madonna’s music career that’s dead. We’ve heard rumors that her tour failed to revive her US status. We’ve also read that her marriage is dead, but alas, it would seem that Madonna herself is not dead, despite the photographic evidence.
Anyone who has seen the pictures can attest that they’re not so much photos, as works of fictional art. The photos have been so over the top photo shopped that it’s hard to tell if that’s even Madonna in there. One viewer commented “I wonder if there’s any part of Madonna actually in that photo?”
This story uncovers a couple interesting aspects about the society in which we live. First, why the fascination with death? It’s it a little creepy to hawk your wares by displaying eerily attractive photos of a woman that looks familiar to us, but can’t quite think of where we know her from? I guess I can sort of understand the whole parallel to many ancient (and some not so ancient) civilizations where people wanted to but buried with their riches, perhaps in order to have them in the afterworld.
Another hot topic raised by the dead Madonna photo, is “how much photo shopping is too much?” When do we alter photos so much that they are no longer truly representative of the original? There were some real issues raised recently not just by this Madonna photo, but also of a ridiculous photo shopped image of Filippa Hamilton in a recent Ralph Lauren advertisement. It’s so outlandish that by looking at the photo, I think her head is as wide as her hips. What kind of message does this send to our impressionable youth? Our reality has become so twisted and distorted that we’re setting up our younger generations to spend the vast majority of their lives feeling inadequate for not being able to live up to this fantasy we have created for them. Sad.

What Is The Deal With Daylight Savings Time?
Did you know that it’s really called “Daylight Saving” and not “Daylight Savings” time? This year, the official Day Light Saving Time is November 1st 2009 at 2:00 AM. So on Halloween night before you go to bed, you should set your clock back 1 hour.
There are some other interesting facts about Daylight Saving time. For example, did you know that not all US States and territories observe daylight saving time? The Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Hawaii, and even Arizona! Well, in reality, Navajo Nation does still observe. Alaska has passed a bill as well to stop following it.
Should Daylight Savings Time Be Expanded?
So how long will this period last? After you set your clocks back on November 1st or last thing October 31st, the clocks won’t need an adjustment until March 14th, 2010, when Daylight Saving time begins again on the second Sunday in March.
It’s also a great idea to use this time to also check your smoke detectors. You should always check your detectors at least twice a year, and how convenient, you need to adjust your clocks twice a year! Did you know that working, properly placed smoke detectors DOUBLE a family’s chance of survival?
Modern daylight savings time was first proposed by a New Zealand entomologist named George Vernon Hudson in 1895. There are many controversial aspects of daylight savings time, which was originally designed to add daylight time to the afternoon and less to the mornings. The practice typically benefits retail outlets, sports or other activities that need daylight after normal working hours. However it doesn’t benefit evening entertainment venues or other evening activities that depend on the sun.
Daylight savings has some complex effects on the health of populations subject to daylight savings time. Since the primary physical affect revolves around sun exposure, the benefit of additional exposure would be increased vitamin D synthesis, while the drawback would be increased likelihood of skin cancer. Some people also argue that levels of depression are decreased during periods of daylight savings time as a result of people rising earlier. On the reverse, some argue that sufferes of night blindness are hurt by the effects of daylight savings time.
Love it or hate it, chances are it’s here to stay. So be ready on November 1st, 2009 to get your extra hour of sleep!

It seems like everyone is searching on Dante Wesley’s hit to Clifton Smith. What is the obsession with Dante Wesley, a special teams player for the Carolina Panthers?
Well for one thing, it really was a pretty crushing blow and from the looks of the video, it’s a little hard to believe this wasn’t something Dante Wesley was trying to avoid. If you watch the video, it really looks like Dante Wesley was pretty intent on laying Clifton Smith on his back.
Regarding the actual incident, Dante says “I was just trying to make a play. You can check my record, I’ve never really tried to hurt anybody. I’ve never tried to take a cheap shot on anybody.” I’ve not done the research, so this may or may not be true. Regardless, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of remorse in these comments.
Did Dante Wesley Take A Cheap Shot At Clifton Smith?
So what exactly happened? The 30 year old Carolina cornerback was ejected from the game after he illegally hit Clifton Smith with 10 seconds remaining in the first half. After the hit, both benches pretty much cleared out and the officials did a superb job of preventing the incident from turning into an all-out brawl. Tampa fans chanted “Throw him Out! Throw him out!” voicing their displeasure with the senseless and illegal tackle.
Probably the real problem with this hit is that it is so blatenly over the top, un-necessarily rough. You can’t help but watch the video and wonder what the heck he was thinking as he launched himself at Clifton Smith with the ball still clearly in flight. Watch the video and decide for yourself if you think this guy deserves a fine or suspension. I for one think he ought to be suspended.

Roman Polanski is A Pervert Rapist Who Belongs In Jail
This story is so twisted and disgusting I don't even know where to start. So this Polanski character tells this 13 year old girl and her mother that he's a photographer on assignment from French Vogue. The spend the afternoon shooting and later in the evening, he lures her to a hot tub at Jack Nicholson's house, gives her Quaaludes and champagne. Are you getting this? She was 13 years old, which would put her in 7th or 8th grade. That's MIDDLE SCHOOL .. she wasn't even in high school at the time. Polanski was 43 years old at the time. A 43 year old twisted, mentally ill pervert giving a 7th or 8th grader booze and drugs, and then having non-consensual sex with her.
Has our world gone mad? If your French, or Whopie Goldberg, the behavior above is A-OK!
If you don't think Hollywood is out of touch, get a load of Whopie Goldberg claiming what happened isn't "Rape-Rape." Right... rape-rape .. if it's just plain rape it's ok .. but if it's rape-rape, then we might have to look into it...

Humana’s Letter Regarding Health Care Reform
Last week, Humana Inc., a private medical insurance company, sent a letter to its Medicare enrollees claiming that health reform proposals could hurt “millions of seniors and disabled individuals” who “could lose many of the important benefits and services that make Medicare Advantage plans so valuable.”
The company issued this letter in response to health care reform proposals that would directly cut payments to Medicare Advantage plans by an estimated $123 billion over 10 years and indirectly reduce funding for those plans by another $15.6 billion, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. In response to the mailing, the Department of Health and Human Services wrote Humana last week instructing it to stop the mailings. The department also wrote to all companies that offer Medicare Advantage plans on Monday, chastising them for saying anything contrary to the administration and suggesting that “such communications are potentially contrary to…federal law.”
I feel that Humana was well within its rights to send out a policy piece explaining what could happen under one of the health care reform bills. I think that Humana is being used as an example to prevent other insurance companies from sending similar mailings that include content perceived to be negative toward the health care proposals in Washington. The action by HHS is contrary to the First Amendment of the Constitution that allows for free speech. Both the government and the people have the right to speak freely, and it was inappropriate for Humana to be condemned for doing its job, which is to keep its policy holders informed. The issue has been raised with the administration by Republicans and a letter has been sent to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius requesting the department to lift its’ ‘gag order,’ and I am hopeful that the problem will be corrected.

Obama Backs Away From Publicly ‘recruiting’ School Children
Earlier this week I read where Obama was asking public schools to have teachers assign work to students where the students have to write a letter to themselves describing how they can "help" President Obama.
WTF? Are you frekin' serious? I simply can't believe the arrogance of this yo yo. Does he really think he can start using the public school system in such an overt effort to 'indoctrinate' school kids?
One exercise actually recommended students immediately after listening to the speech: to engage in a discussion about what "the president wants us to do." What the president wants us to do? You tell me that's not some sort of attempt to brainwash children into becoming mindless minnions who just accept and do whatever the president wants us to do.
What's important to remember is that the Obama Administration is trying to get this kind of thing pushed through the system ALL the TIME. This is just one that happened to get some attention, and forced them to admit they had their hand in the cookie jar. How many times do you think this kind of thing slips through the system without someone noticing? My guess is pretty darn frequently.
